2017 Fall 五專企管二年級 Song Project

About the project:
This semester, you’re going to do an English song project and give an English powerpoint presentation.
Purposes:

  1. Learn how to make an effective powerpoint presentation in English;
  2. Learn how to collect and organize English information online and present it in a way that your audience can understand well;
  3. Share the song your group members like;
  4. Learn new songs;
  5. Improve your pronunciation, listening, vocabulary.

Your presentation need to include the following information:
1. Your motivation: Is there anything special about the song? Why did your group choose this song?
2. The background of the song: The history of the song, or the story behind the song.
3. The singer: Who is the singer? His/her background.
4. The lyric
5. Vocabulry/phrases/sentences you learned
6. Your comments on the song.
7. Division of responsibility
8. Reference

Length of the presentation: 16-19 minutes (make sure you finish everything in the allotted time)
Language: English only
Members: 6×8組 7×1組=55人
Documents needed for this project:
1. PPT file
— An Introduction: Is there anything special about the song? Why did your group choose this song?
— The background of the song: The history of the song, or the story behind the song.
— The singer: Who is the singer? His/her background.
— The lyric
— The video and the link to the video
— Vocabulry/phrases/sentences you learned/
— Your comments on the song.
— Division of responsibility

Please prepare a class handout (1-2 pages) for each of your classmates.
— Anything you think that might help your audience better understand your presentation, or the song you chose.
–You could also list some of the good words/phrases/sentences that you learned from the talk.3. 書面報告 (超級重要)
(1) A printed version of your ppt, (2) your talk scripts, and (3) the class handout you prepared. 

— On the day your present, please give me a printed version of your ppt (6 slides on one page, double-sided) and a copy of your talk scripts (as a group)
— Please also attach a copy of the lyric of the song.

Final Reminder:
1. Please email your ppt file one week before your presentation so I could give you some comments before you present in class. Also, please upload your finalized file one day before you present so your classmates could take a look before they hear your talk.
2. When doing your presentation in class, you can play “part of the song”–the parts that impressed you the most. (3 to 3.5 minutes, maximum).

Overview of the course
This is a one-year four-skill integrated course which helps students to develop fluency in English and equip them with the learning strategies needed for autonomous learning. While more focus are on reading, grammar, and vocabulary in the first semester, students are also encouraged to discuss and write about the ideas they discover in the reading and listening, aiming to develop their critical-thinking, speaking, and writing skills. Class activities include discussion, group activities, and presentation.

Midterm: 25% Project: 25% Quiz: 30% Assignments & Participation (in-class & after-class): 20%
Course Requirements

  1. Participation is crucial to the success of your learning. You’re expected to ask questions, answer questions, and share information in different ways.
  2. The tests will be taken on scheduled dates; no make-up tests.
  3. You’re responsible for getting class notes and handouts, if late or absent from class. Absence from class will not be an acceptable excuse for missing assignments or tests.
  4. Quizzes: There will be quizzes and exams based on the materials in the textbooks and the materials presented in class. Please preview and review the class materials every week.
  5. Please switch your mobile phone to silent mode during class time. Unless it’s used for dictionary look up or for information searching, please don’t use your mobile phone during class time.
