Overview of the course
This is a one-year four-skill integrated course which prepares students to become more effective and confident readers. While the focus will be on academic reading, vocabulary, and grammar, this class will also encourage students to discuss and write about the ideas they discover in the readings, aiming to make them better speakers and writers of English as well. Students will engage in a variety of activities, including discussion, group activities, and presentation.

Overview of the course
In this one-semester class, students will get familiar with the language resources on the Internet, including websites and freeware, and learn how to use these resources to improve their English skills. Learning strategies will be demonstrated through tasks in reading, writing, speaking, listening. Students will discuss and write about the ideas they discover in the reading and listening, aiming to develop their critical-thinking, writing and speaking skills. Class activities include lectures, group/class discussion, online discussion, and class presentation.

Reading Project
You’ll be forming into groups of four, and finish the reading project together. About every two weeks, you’ll be assigned to read an article online. Read the articles together and finish the exercises together. Discuss if you have any difficulties. In class, you’ll take turn to present the article.
Course Requirements

  1. Be in class on time.
  2. Respect the speakers (Your teachers & classmates), and listen carefully.
  3. The tests will be taken on scheduled dates; no make-up tests.
  4. Hand in your assignments on time. I won’t take any late assignments.
  5. You’re responsible for getting class notes and handouts, if late or absent from class. Absence from class will not be an acceptable excuse for missing assignments or tests.

Overview of the course
This is a one-year four-skill integrated course which helps students to develop fluency in English and equip them with the learning strategies needed for autonomous learning. While more focus are on reading, grammar, and vocabulary in the first semester, students are also encouraged to discuss and write about the ideas they discover in the reading and listening, aiming to develop their critical-thinking, speaking, and writing skills. Class activities include discussion, group activities, and presentation.

Overview of the course
